Remove a white or plain background from a photo
If you sell products online or design social posts, you will often need an image with a transparent background. Cyanframe's background remover is built for a very common case: a subject on a plain, single-color background such as white or a studio backdrop.
When does it work best?
- Product photos shot on a white or grey background.
- Logos and signatures scanned on white paper.
- People photographed against a single-color wall or studio backdrop.
Busy backgrounds such as a street or a garden need specialized AI tools; this tool won't give good results there.
How does it work?
The tool reads the colors along the image edges to learn the background color, then removes every pixel that is connected to the edges and close to that color. White areas inside the product itself stay intact as long as they don't touch the background.
The settings explained
- Color tolerance: the higher it is, the more colors further from the background are removed. Start at 40. If patches or shadows of the background remain, raise it; if parts of the product disappear, lower it.
- Edge softness: smooths the subject's outline instead of leaving jagged edges. 8–16 suits most images.
Steps
- Open the background removal tool and choose your image.
- Keep the default settings and click “Start processing”.
- Download the result — a PNG with a transparent background. Not happy? Adjust the tolerance and run it again.
Shooting tips for easy background removal
- Use a background color clearly different from the product.
- Light the background evenly to reduce shadows.
- Move the product a little away from the backdrop so it doesn't cast a strong shadow on it.
